Financial Services
Winship Cancer Institute offers the services of our Oncology Resource Coordinator free of charge to help with the financial demands of cancer treatment. As a new patient to Winship, you will be scheduled to meet with an Oncology Resource Coordinator approximately an hour before your first appointment with your physician. During the course of your therapy, your Oncology Resource Coordinator will: n Review your insurance coverage with you n Discuss out-of-pocket obligations n Address concerns you may have with your coverage n Help locate financial coverage options and resources for which you may be eligible If you have any insurance or billing questions prior to your visit/between visits, please call (404) 778-1900 and ask to speak with an Oncology Resource Coordinator. Prior to Your Appointment Your Health Insurance Benefits We encourage you to obtain insurance coverage information directly from your insurance company (refer to the Member Services/Customer Service number on your insurance card) or from your employer's benefits office prior to your visit. As a courtesy, The Emory Clinic (Winship) will file your insurance claims, both primary and secondary. We will work with you to help ensure you receive full benefit from your insurance company, and we will respond to requests from your insurer for additional information. Recommended questions to ask your insurance company and/or your employer: 1. Does The Emory Clinic and/or your physician participate with my insurance plan? 2. Does my plan require a referral in order to see a specialist? 3. What is my copay amount for a specialist office visit? a. Outpatient care b. Inpatient care c. Medications d. Prescriptions e. Diagnostic Procedures f. Labs 5. Are there any limits to my cancer coverage? 6. What is the amount of annual, out-of-pocket expense for which I will be responsible? If you currently are uninsured, please call (404) 778-1900 before your appointment and ask to speak with an Oncology Resource Coordinator. It is Emory Clinic's policy to obtain full payment at the time of service. An Oncology Resource Coordinator will be able to provide you with an estimate of your upcoming visit and discuss possible financial programs and options. Referrals If your plan requires a referral from your Primary Care Physician (PCP) before seeing one of our specialists, please be sure to obtain the referral before your appointment, fax to (404) 778-4187 and/or bring with you to your Oncology Resource Coordinator the day of your appointment. Copays Please note that copays are due at the time of service. If your specialist copay amount is not listed on your insurance card, please contact Member Services/Customer Service (refer to the number on your card) to verify your specialist copay amount.
